Rob completes Cheltenham Half Marathon in aid of GDA
Huge congratulations to GDA supporter, Rob Gillespie who completed his Cheltenham Half Marathon efforts on Sunday 29th September. Not only did Rob smash his half marathon in an amazing time of 2:06, he's also smashed his fundraising target.
Despite the threat of rain on Sunday, the wet weather decided to stay away allowing Rob and the other 2470 runners to enjoy the 13.1 mile route that takes you through the centre of Cheltenham before finishing at the Cheltenham Racecourse.
Rob initially set himself a fundraising target of £200 but since completing his run, he's seen his total reach almost £400 which is simply amazing.
Rob was inspired to run for GDA by his son Callum. Callum was just a tiny baby when he contracted meningitis. Thankfully Callum survived but he lost his hearing as a result. He now wears hearing aids in both ears.
Rob and his family have been coming to GDA's Cirencester Deaf Children's Club (CDCC) since Callum was little and as a thank you for all the support they've received over the years, Rob wanted to take on Gloucestershire's most popular running event.
All the money that Rob has raised will enable GDA to continue support more deaf children and their families like Callum and Rob. Our sincere thanks to Rob for his amazing efforts.
If you would like to follow in Rob's footsteps and take on the Cheltenham Half Marathon in aid of GDA, you can now sign up to the 2020 event on Sunday 27th September by clicking here.
