One week to go until Gloucestershire goes loud and bright for GDA
In just one weeks time GDA will be joining Tweedy the Clown and a whole host of schools, businesses, clubs and individuals in wearing our loudest and brightest clothing for the day.
2019 is a special year for GDA, it marks the 100th anniversary of our charity. As part of GDA's celebrations we are inviting businesses, schools, clubs, aunties, uncles, sisters, brothers, grannies and even the dogs to get involved by wearing it loud for GDA on Tuesday 15th October.
All the money raised through the Wear it Loud campaign will help fund the vital services that GDA provides to thousands of deaf, hard of hearing and deafened children, young people and adults living in our local community.
Deafness is one of the most misunderstood conditions in our society. Hands up if you've ever dismissed deafness as just being about 'not being able to hear on the phone'. The sad fact is that we've all probably unintentionally undermined just how deafness can affect a person.
The truth is that deafness can have a devastating impact on a persons physical and mental wellbeing. The biggest battle a person living with deafness can face is the one with communication. In a world where we are all encouraged to talk, for deaf people that can be a daily struggle.
When faced with that battle day-in and day-out, many people lose confidence; they become withdrawn and isolated from society.
At GDA all the services we provide aim to enable a person to live confidently with their deafness; to feel safe and to be part of the conversation. But we can't do it without your support...
By getting involved in our Wear it Loud day, you will be helping to ensure that the life-changing services GDA offers to help combat communication difficulties, isolation and loneliness, can continue for another 100 years.
