7yr old Amelia joins GDA to chat to BBC Radio Glos about 'Wear it Loud' day
7yr old Amelia joined GDA's Gemma Sills to speak to BBC Radio Gloucestershire today about the charity's upcoming 'Wear it Loud' campaign.
Amelia initially approached GDA about undertaking a challenge to raise money for the charity, as part of her Brownies charity badge. After learning about GDA's first ever 'Wear it Loud' campaign, Amelia wrote a beautiful letter to her school asking them to be part of the campaign and with such a thoughtful and persuasive letter, Amelia's school of course said yes!
BBC Radio Gloucestershire saw the letter via GDA's Twitter feed and invited Amelia and her mum, Claire along to chat to Nicky Price about her challenge and involvement in the campaign.
Nicky Price said "When you're on social media and you see something really special that stands out, well that happened recently when GDA tweeted about 7yr old Amelia's letter to her school asking them to be part of the charity's 'Wear it Loud' campaign. We have Amelia in the studio with us today to tell us more."
Amelia bravely read out some of her letter - "I am writing to ask if our school could get involved in Gloucestershire Deaf Association's first ever Wear it Loud day on Tuesday 15th October 2019. All you need to do is bring in a £1 donation and come to school in your brightest clothes ever."
As well as championing the 'Wear it Loud' campaign, Amelia has also been busy undertaking her challenge to learn 100 BSL signs. So far she's learned 45 signs and raised nearly £200 for GDA. If you'd like to show Amelia your support, you can do so via her JustGiving page.
