GDA is a forward-thinking and innovative charity providing valuable support and services to deaf, hard of hearing and deafened children, young people and adults living in Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire, and South Gloucestershire.

Every so often we seek like-minded people to join our vibrant team. Please see below the opportunities we currently have available.

GDA are currently recruiting Trustees for our Council of Management which is an extremely important role for our charity. We are looking for individuals, who are able to be critical friends, ensuring GDA continues to achieve its vision and values whilst remaining compliant with our legal obligations and financial responsibilities. We also pride ourselves on being user-led so particularly welcome interest from deaf or hard of hearing people.

GDA also wishes to have a broad range of knowledge and skills amongst our Trustees, in particular – business development, financial, human resources, fund-raising, legal, governance, health and social care, BSL skills, charity management or other charity experience.

In return, the Trustee position offers continuing professional development in a rewarding role with an exciting opportunity to help us shape our future. GDA has a clear vision for growth including developing our emotional wellbeing offer as we know deaf people are at greater risk of developing poor mental health; our employment offer as we know deaf people need ongoing retention support particularly for people who acquire hearing loss whilst in employment and our offer for children and their families including support for young people transitioning into adulthood as we know there are gaps in provision. In addition, we will continue to develop our work in South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Swindon.

2019 marks our centenary year so an incredible time to join GDA and be part of a dedicated Board of Trustees. We will need you to commit to at least quarterly Council of Management meetings taking place in the evenings at our site in Barnwood, Gloucestershire. For more information and/or an informal discussion, please contact Sharon Bryant, CEO on
